He took a deep breath as he stared out across the water. This was a new town. He could have a new start, but like always, there was no one. There was no one around to explain what this world meant. His eyes shifted about, watching the people walk hand in hand with another, some were kissing even. He'd never even known the feel of someone's hand in his. They seemed to be afraid of his eyes. They seemed to be afraid that he'd kill them or something. He pulled his gaze away, and stared into the depths of the ocean. He wanted to live, he just didn't know how. "Lady of the Lake, won't you give me your hand, so I will at least have something to hold on to until I figure this world out?" He whispered softly, but no hand was raised. He was talking to a spirit he had heard about in the homeless shelters he had been in and out of on movie night. What he would give to have the sword in the shone, to show that he had a good heart. But no one would watch him anyway, no one seemed to care.

Dakota and her pet husky puppy, Striker, walked through the harbor. Then she stopped as she noticed a guy standing alone. He seemed lonely, so Dak walked over to him and said, "Hello..." She looked down at Striker, then back at the guy that she didn't know. She stood beside him, wondering why he was all alone. Lately Dak had felt alone too, except for Striker, she had no one.

He didn't notice her coming, or maybe he had and thought she wasn't coming for him. So when she was at his side and spoke to him, he jumped. He turned and looked at her, defenses up and eyes seeming to flare up for a shift and a fight, but it was only a girl and her dog. He sighed, gaze turning back to the harbor. The dog was probably her boyfriend just wanting to be subjected to a dominatrix's whims. His gaze stayed upon the water, he had to at least be kind to her. At least she was including him, like others did not. He turned to look at her again, and noticed the similarity in their eyes; that remnant of the shifter in her. His gaze softened alittle and he raised his hand to shake hers. "Hey, the name's Kokoro, but you, gorgeous, can call me Koko. What's your name?" He smiled, his mind reeling. He couldn't help but laughing in his mind at her helpless boyfriend that was stuck in dog form in the eyes of the people. Let him wither in pain as I steal his girl, it's not like I couldn't take him in a fight.

Dakota smiled at him, happy that he seemed to brighten up now. She listened to his question, reached out her hand to shake his, and replied, "My names Dakota, but you can call me Dak." She wondered how Striker's reaction to him was, but she didn't bother to look down at him. Dak felt happy to have found someone she could connect with, besides Striker. Then she heard her pup barking, but ignored it, for she was lost in Koko's eyes.

The inner leopard in him wanted to smirk as the dog started barking. But the thing was, it was barking. It wasn't talking, which meant it was either a really stupid shifter boyfriend, or a normal dog. Either way, he had to find out so he knew how to go about his game plan. He really didn't want to be on anybody's bad side right now. He pulled his hand away, and turned back to the harbor and stared into the sea, acting as if he was afraid of the dog's bark for right now. He had to think with a goose's mind, he needed to find a group to hang with. It wasn't easy being a leopard shifter; because you couldn't exactly shift anywhere. He took a deep breath, and glanced down to the yapping dog. He was just going to throw it out there. "Is that your boyfriend?"

Dak watched him pull his hand away, so she put he own by her side. She felt a little surprised by Koko's question, and she answered, "No, just my dog." Then she looked down at him and said "Striker, shh." So Striker obeyed and growled once at Koko, then got silent. Then Dak nodded at him, which was her way of saying 'good boy.' Then she focused back on Koko, and smiled again, noticing him staring out at the sea.

Koko couldn't exactly control his animal's ferocity. When he heard the dog's growl, his eyes grew wild; his knuckles turned right as he clutched the railing along the harbor, but it didn't do anything. He growled back; his growl sounding more like a lion's roar. People stared, but continued on when they thought he was just imitating sounds. He sighed, knowing he probably just blew any chance he had been of being this girl's friend. It was probably a test, the dog probably really was her boyfriend. Why else would it have growled? It's not like he was a bad person. His gaze turned to the girl, she looked so young; so innocently beautiful and majestic. How could one be so noble, when they were only a human, the scum of the earth? He didn't know. But she really was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Pearl of the ocean...she has extended her hand... When he realized he was staring, he felt his cheeks flush and he looked away, back into the ocean. "I-I'm sorry. I'm not really good with dogs. Or people for that matter. It doesn't help when your alternative form likes to eat them."

Dak nodded and replied, "I understand, would you like me to send him away..? She didn't mind sending him away, Striker would find his way back. The smile stayed on her face, showing she was not angry with him. She stood in front of him, really starting to take a liking to him. She looked at Striker for a minute, her eyes angry, as she knew he was probably doing this on purpose. She sighed and looked up again, waiting.

His heart skipped a beat, and he turned to look at her with confusion written all over his face. Apparently, it wasn't a prank. The dog really was a dog. He glanced down to it and growled again at it, shifting his gaze back to the ocean. He really didn't want to run this girl off. She was nice, and that was something that he hadn't come across in a long while. "Do whatever makes you feel safer, miss. Though I really would like to have a walk with you. I just need someone to talk to..." his voice trailed off as he added, "I just need someone I can trust," so she probably didn't hear it before it was sucked away into the vaccum of the wind. His gaze turned to her, his eyes pleading as he gazed into hers. They're so beautiful, and so young.

Dakota nodded, and replied, "I would love to take a walk with you." Not wanting to look away from his gaze, she very gently kicked Striker, meaning 'see you later.' Then Dak waited for his reply. she had just met him, yet she longed to reach up, hug him then kiss him. Though she didn't want to act too soon, so she just stared at him with calm, patient eyes.

He smiled, out of his peripheral vision he saw the dog scurrying away. He turned and looked at her, and without really thinking about it, he reached out and took the hand that lay limply at her side and he brought it up to his lips and kissed it gently, in a greeting sort of way. He didn't take his gaze from her eyes as he lowered her hand but still held it, giving it a slight squeeze. "Where would you like to walk, Dakota?" She was beautiful. She deserved to be called by her full beautiful name. He smiled to her.

Dakota blushed a little as he kissed her hand, she smiled and looked away, happily. Then she looked back at him saying, "I don't know.. anywhere is fine." She looked at him, trying to hide her true feelings for him. Though her eyes sparkled as she watched him closely. He was very handsome, and probably the sweetest guy she ever met.

He chuckled a little at her reaction, but he didn't let go of her hand. He held on to it as if it was a life line. He sighed, and looked over her head. The pier along that way seemed to be emptying out, and it seemed to lead to a park sort of set up. He smiled, and looked back to her. "Let's walk over to that park. We could sit and watch the sunset on a bench." He smiled and gazed into her eyes, awaiting her response. His heart pounded in his chest, but he couldn't tell if this was really what others described love was. He had been alone so long, what if he was leading her beautiful soul on?

Dakota nodded and waited for him to start walking. She was happy now, because she didn't feel so alone now. She felt happy to be with someone who understood her, or at least she guessed he understood her. Hey eyes were still sparkling as she looked at him, not able to take her eyes away from his. Her beautiful hair shined in the sunlight.

He smiled, and started walking. He clutched her hand as if it was his life line. His mind was in hyper drive, like it always was. He was thinking way to far into the future. He didn't even know now if it was even feasible, but he was already thinking of how he was going to pay the rent. All those thoughts in his first three steps. He turned to look at her as he walked, and absent mindly reached up and brushed a piece of her beautiful hair out of her face.
