Name: Rayne Morgenstern
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Orientation: Straight
Guild:
Shapeshift Form: Grey Wolf
Appearance: Human form: He stands just over 6ft tall, with shoulder-length dark blonde hair. His eyes are a very light shade of brown, and there is a small scar below his left eye. He has never really been bothered with his appearance, throws on whatever clothes are clean, even if the colours contrast. However, his wardrobe consists almost entirely of dark blue and black shirts, some jeans and a few jackets, so there's never really much choice anyway.
Shifted form: Standing at 32 inches at the shoulder, his wolf form has blonde fur on the underbelly, and a darker brown shade on top, deepening to almost black at the spine.
Personality: Rayne tends to keep to himself. He doesn't like to socialise, and people trying to strike up a conversation will mostly get one-syllable replies. He doesn't like the daytime, and will tend to stay inside, but he can often be seen walking the streets at night, with no real aim.
History: Rayne grew up in the suburbs, in an estate where you learn to fight, or you get jumped every day. His school life was reasonably normal, a couple of fights, nothing serious. He spent a lot of time outside at night, generally walking along back streets in his wolf form. A few months after his twenty-first birthday, he was spotted in wolf form, and Animal Control was called. He managed to escape the officers, but felt that it was not safe for him to stay where he was, so he moved. He is now living in a small apartment, in a new town. His 22nd birthday has just passed, and he still follows the same pattern of walking as a wolf at night. However, this new city seems different. What will he encounter here?
Sample: The pipes clattered as Rayne turned the shower heat up. He stood under the hot spray for a few minutes, trying to get rid of the aches caused from falling asleep in the armchair again. He rubbed his left shoulder, where the symbol of a Shifter contrasted with the tanned skin. He glanced at his watch. The phosphorescent hands glowed an eerie shade of green, showing him that the time was just past 10pm. Well, time to go he thought, getting up and reaching for his jacket. He grabbed the apartment key from the hook just inside the door, and let himself out quietly. The walls were thicker then his old place, but he didn't want to disturb anyone with the sound of a closing door. He walked out of the building and looked around. Think I'll go this way tonight he spoke to himself, pointing to the left. He wandered around the corner, dodging the overgrown shrub that was sticking out into the sidewalk, and quickly dodged into an alley. A few seconds later, the quiet padding of lupine feet could be heard, as a dark wolf loped away down the alley. Rayne savoured the new sensory inputs from his wolf form, smelling the various city smells as he walked along. He heard the crunch of footsteps, and dodge into the shadows as a drunk man walked past the other end of the alleyway. Slinking back out, Rayne continued his walk, heading down towards the docks. He started to hum a tune that he couldn't place the name to, and after a few seconds, started laughing, the short barking spasms of a strangely amused wolf. What would people think if they walked past a wolf humming tunes? he pondered, as he swung his head around to check the time. The large clock tower was inching towards midnight, and Rayne grumbled at the thought of spending so much time wandering the docks with the smell of fish. He would be just fine in human form, he could wander along without a care in the world. Maybe grab a hot dog from the stand he could smell. But he had already experienced what happens when normal people spot a wolf in the city. He plodded away, wondering about the logic puzzle he had seen in the morning's paper.
